He is responsible for all the matters concerning the students and all activities (other than academic) which will have the participation of students at institute level or outside the institute.

The DSW often works with various departments and services to address student needs and concerns. Here are some of the key responsibilities of a Dean of Student Welfare:
1. Student Welfare and Support

Mental Health and Counselling: Overseeing services related to mental health, stress management, and counselling. Ensuring that students have access to psychological support and creating awareness programs about mental well-being.

Academic Support: Coordinating with academic departments to provide academic advising, tutoring, and other support services that help students achieve their academic goals.

Disability Services: Ensuring that students with disabilities receive the necessary accommodations and support for a successful academic experience.
2. Student Support and Counselling:

Mental Health Support: The DSW plays a crucial role in providing or coordinating mental health services, including counselling and support for students experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or other psychological challenges.

Personal Counselling: Offering one-on-one counselling services to students for issues such as family problems, relationship issues, academic pressure, and personal development.
3. Academic Guidance:

Providing guidance on academic issues such as course selection, academic performance, and time management.

4. Student Engagement and Extra-Curricular Activities:

6. Career Counselling and Professional Development:

Supporting students with career advice, internship placements, and job-search strategies.

7. Cultural and Social Inclusion:

Ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, feel included and supported. This can involve organizing events that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

8. Disciplinary Oversight:

Overseeing student conduct and behaviour in accordance with institutional codes of conduct.
